Turbo Tape Games, as the developer, and Paradox Interactive, the publisher, have offered more information on Naval War: Arctic Circle, the real-time strategy game that focuses on naval battles and will allow players to command some of the most powerful naval task forces in the world.

The game has been officially unveiled at the Paradox Interactive event in New York City at the end of January, but the two companies have only now offered clear information about the game and about its mechanics.

Naval War: Arctic Circle will offer two campaign modes, one based on Russian action and one based on NATO response ,and the single-player battles will be joined by LAN and Internet based online games, with two players pitting their forces one against another.

The developers are saying that the game simulates more than 35 million square kilometers of water and coastline, the perfect playground for powerful vessels and for sneaky submarines.

The engagement will begin at long range, with gamers able to attack enemies using long-range guided weapons as soon as they detect them and the vertical element of Naval War will be crucial, with battles occupying the entire area from orbit to the bottom of the sea.

Turbo Tape Games says that the entire simulated area will be seen on the game map and that a zoom function will allow gamers to explore in detail every square kilometer.

All the units seen in Naval War will be taken from the real world and will be simulated in great detail, with players able to control all the critical systems, with a focus on the more powerful ships.

A lot of the game will be built around the player detecting enemy forces while avoiding to be seen himself, making an initial strike devastating.

Neither Paradox nor Turbo Tape Games have said when they are planning to launch Naval War: Arctic Circle.
