Video games have always tried to deliver a photo-realistic environment in which players can freely roam around and explore the stunning settings. One of the latest titles to flaunt such a feature is Sony's Afrika game, which promises to take players on a virtual safari through the African continent where they can view and take pictures of photo-realistic animals.

After the Japanese gamers have been exploring every nook and cranny of the video game, Natsume has just announced that it will be taking North American players on a voyage to the black continent in order to be amazed by the animals that have been recreated using pictures from top National Geographic photographers.

“We are very excited to be releasing Afrika in North America, and thrilled to be working with Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios,” said Hiro Maekawa, president and CEO of Natsume. “The team has put an incredible amount of work into replicating the African safari experience, and the results are simply breathtaking.”

Scheduled for a release this fall, the game will feature realistically recreated animals that look, behave and move around just like a true wild creature. Ranging from lions or cheetahs to hippos and zebras, the number of animals that players can observe, study and photograph is quite large.

Gamers will have to take the best photos in order to sell them to the National Geographic magazine, in order to receive money, which they can spend on licensed camera equipment, such as lenses, in order to take even better shots of their favorite animals in the wild and eventually reach the cover of the prestigious magazine.
