Nathan Drake, the hero of the extremely popular Uncharted video game franchise, will continue to appear in lots of future titles, as the developer of the series, Naughty Dog, has confirmed that it still has plans for the treasure hunter.

In a time when franchises, whether they are games, movies or television, are getting rebooted and start all over with new characters, the Uncharted series will continue, as Naughty Dog, its developer, is still confident that Nathan Drake will be able to draw in fans.

Speaking with Edge magazine, via CVG, the Game Director at Naughty Dog, Justin Richmond, has revealed why you wouldn't see an Uncharted reboot anytime soon.

"You see it in the movies," he said. "They constantly reboot things you just saw ten years ago. You're like: "Wait a minute. I just saw that!" Spider-Man is just ridiculous. It's something you have to be careful of with any kind of creative endeavor, and the lure to reinvent yourself is always there."

That won't happen with Drake though, as Naughty Dog still has lots of plans with the treasure hunter.

"But one good thing is that we feel we're not done with Drake yet; we haven't done all we wanted to do, and there are still technical hurdles and goals we want to get over, and do even more stuff in gameplay... We're very cogniscent of the legacy of what Drake is, and that every game should advance the story and the genre."

The newest title in the series will be Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, which will appear exclusively on the PlayStation 3 on November 1.

The title will see Drake and longtime partner Victor Sullivan venture around the world in the search for the "Atlantis of the Sands," located somewhere in the vast Arabian desert.

The story of the title will focus on the relationship between Drake and Sully, while the gameplay will be advanced even more, as seen in lots of videos released up until now.
