It seems that the Uncharted movie project is moving forward with full steam, as famous actor and singer Mark Wahlberg confirmed to MTV that he will play the franchise's main hero, Nathan Drake.

This is definitely a kick to the gut for many fans, who were petitioning the writer and director of the movie, David O. Russel, to cast other, more charismatic actors, like Nathan Fillion, to play the hero.

Still, it seems that Wahlberg is set to bring Nathan Drake to life in the Uncharted movie which, according to him, might go into production as early as this summer.

It seems that other big name stars might also be cast, as the script allows for characters like Drake's father to appear, which would be played by Robert DeNiro, according to Wahlberg, and another role, Drake's uncle, for someone like Joe Pesci.

This is definitely a shocker, as in the two games released up until now, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, the main character made no reference to his father or uncle, instead relying only on his older partner, Sully, who was the closest thing to family for the treasure hunter.

This isn't the first time Mark Wahlberg will star in a game to movie adaptation, as he also appeared in the Max Payne movie back in 2008.

Sadly, even if it looked like it would be among the better adaptations, the movie flopped after its release, with critics citing bland acting and action, despite being based on one of the most cinematic games out there.
