A short while ago, word got out online that Nadya Suleman, the mother of 14 who once promised she would never again turn to government assistance to support her children, was, in fact, living off food stamps. Below is a video with her explanation for that.

Suleman, who is now known mostly as Octomom, after giving birth to octuplets three years ago, was on Matt Lauer the other day, trying to set the record straight on why she agreed to go on state support again.

She insists that she sees nothing wrong with receiving food stamps for a short while, especially not when others abuse the system for years on end.

This was never her intention, and she stresses that the food stamps are just a means to get by until she's back up on her feet again.

“People are saying, 'Nadya, people are thinking you have been on (assistance). Who cares if you even do this? They thought you were on it already.' My priority is my children – their health, their well-being, their safety. I’m giving myself another 2 months to be on it,” Suleman tells Lauer.

No matter what she says, people will never believe her that she hasn't been on assistance in years. In the end, Suleman underlines, it doesn't even matter what people say about her as long as her children are well provided for.

“I still am working as hard as I possibly can to support them. I made that call reluctantly. I feel ashamed, but who cares how I feel. It’s 100 percent about my children,” she explains.

There's nothing in this world she wouldn't do for the kids, the controversial Octomom adds. When pressed for details by Lauer, as to the lengths she'd go to make money, Suleman draws the line at whatever activity might make her children embarrassed of her when they grow up.

“I won’t touch other human flesh. The only flesh I’m touching is my own. I would never, never accept anything. I will not lose my grip of my deeply indoctrinated morals and values,” she says.

In the same interview, Octomom says she could write at least a couple of books with the nasty things people have been calling her ever since she came to the attention of the international media – when all she ever wanted to do was to have kids and enjoy life with them.
