The Girls Aloud have been on hiatus while they focus on their individual projects but, more than once, fans have said the prolonged absence was due to Nadine Coyle and her move to LA to launch a solo pop album.

In a new interview cited by News of the World, Nadine not only rubbishes such allegations, but also hints that she may be forced out of the band when and if a reunion does happen.

Nadine says she’s sick and tired of people blaming her for the break Girls Aloud took because, honestly, she had nothing to do with it.

Every girl in the band agreed to go their separate ways for a while to see how they fared alone in the industry, the singer explains.

It’s upsetting because people think it’s my fault. When I was first told that’s what everyone was thinking, I couldn’t understand it – why blame me? How has it swung in that direction? I really don’t know,” Nadine says.

If people would only bother to check up with the activities of the other girls, they would see they’re busy too, so it’s not just Nadine’s move to the US that contributed to the decision to take a break.

“Two years ago, we all agreed to take a break to give people time to do their own things, and this has all just blown up. It really hurts when I hear things like I’m holding the girls back. It’s just absurd. People can make up their own minds but honestly, it’s not true,” Nadine says.

“I’ve got my solo stuff, Cheryl’s got lots going on, Nicola’s got her make-up, Kimberley’s doing her presenting and Sarah, I dunno, she’s probably just taking time to relax,” Coyle says.

As far as she’s concerned, she has no animosity towards the other girls and she’s not holding a reunion back. She simply hasn’t been contacted about it, she says.

Coyle goes on to explain that there are more people involved in the Girls Aloud project than just them 5 women (about 30, she says), and they all have to be on the same page for the reunion to happen.

For the time being, they’re not. However, assuming they would be soon, Nadine would gladly consider a reunion.

“I don’t speak to the girls, not regularly. But that doesn’t mean there’s a problem on my part. Me and the girls always work together really well,” Nadine explains.
