For quite a while now, NVIDIA's 3D Vision has been the only serious solution for enjoying 3D content (games, multimedia, etc.) on one's PC, and it seems that the company has finally decided to upgrade one of its most important components, namely the active shutter glasses.

Of course, some people might say that there's little to upgrade about the 3D Vision shutter glasses, but the truth of the matter is, in fact, quite different, especially as far as their functioning life is concerned.

So, within a post on NVIDIA's own official blog, Andrew Fear, senior product manager at NVIDIA Corporation responsible for NVIDIA’s consumer stereoscopic 3D products, including here 3D Vision, has revealed the fact that the active shutter glasses have gone through a bit of an upgrade process, their built-in battery being replaced by an enhanced one.

According to NVIDIA's rep, the new glasses will be able to provide 50 percent longer battery life from a single charge, which translates into roughly 60 hours compared with 40 hours before.

In this way, users won't really have to worry that much about the glasses running out of juice right when they're needed the most (as for example, when playing some game or watching a 3D movie).

However, the battery upgrade mentioned above is not the only good news NVIDIA has for us as far as the 3D Vision solution is concerned, the company also deciding to attempt to further bolster sales by cutting the package's sales price.

So, from now on, the 3D Vision package will sell for just 149 US dollars (a US$50 price cut), while users who want to get a pair of extra glasses will only have to pay around 120 US dollars for it.

We'll have to admit that NVIDIA's initiative is quite an interesting one, given the fact that the price for a complete 3D ecosystem has just dropped significantly (after all, one will be able to enjoy 3D Vision for roughly 5 to 600 US dollars, including here the price of a 120Hz 3D monitor, the new package, plus the newly-introduced GTX 550 Ti graphics card).
