It could be nothing but a rumor but it sounds more than credible

Just when I thought the day was over and that no more exciting news were available I stumbled upon an article Posted on Aussie-Nintendo, saying that "some" NTSC GameCube games are 100% compatible with the PAL version of the Nintendo Wii. Although it sounds like nothing more than a rumor, here's what the article says:

"Pop a PAL GameCube disc into the Wii, and head to the 'Disc Channel'. A GameCube logo should be up on the screen. Point the Wii Remote's cursor over the 'Start' option so it's highlighted, and while keeping your hand steady, press the eject button on the Wii. For about one second, the 'Start' option will remain active. In this window of time, hit the A button on the Wii Remote and then swap out your ejected PAL GCN disc with an NTSC (Japanese or USA) disc, which the Wii will accept into the drive."

It sounds credible, what can I say? Many devices fail to recognize what they "are fed," after the machine is forced to skip the recognition process for that disc, memory stick, game cartridge or others. It is quite simple actually: the first PAL Cube disc inserted makes the machine say: "OK, we have a go on PAL disc everyone!" After that, it will basically read everything else that is Nintendo disc. Oh, and if you thought: "hey...what if it works the other way around...?" forget about it, it's not gonna happen.

Still, if this isn't just a rumor and running old NTSC GameCube discs is possible with the Wii console, then rush and check all those dusty drawers right now for any left Cube games that you probably forgot about, or see if any store still has some on sale. But, try not to bust your Wii doing this. If the machine shows any malfunction in any way, it is best that you forget about it, otherwise you'll feel sorry that you ever tried such a stupid thing as running NTSC Cube games on your Wii.
