Mobile phone operator Orange France has just announced plans to add to their offering a Samsung Galaxy S II flavor that packs support for NFC (Near Field Communication) technology.

Today, the company announced that the new handset was expected to become available for purchase on their network starting with the next month.

The handset will land at Orange France in the beginning, but will make it to more European countries soon after, the carrier stated.

With this launch, Orange becomes the first wireless carrier in Europe to make a SIM-based NFC Android phone available for purchase on its network.

The company announced that the new device was designed so as to comply with specifications of French mobile contactless association (AFSCM).

The mobile phone will arrive on shelves with a new generation of secure SIM cards, designed so as to offer support for the contactless mobile services.

The NFC-enabled flavor of Samsung Galaxy S II will arrive on shelves with the same list of features that the original version of the flagship device arrived with.

Thus, users will be able to enjoy the power of a dual-core 1.2GHz application processor inside the handset, along with the same large 4.3-inch touchscreen display.

Moreover, the new mobile phone comes with the same 8-megapixel photo snapper inside that the predecessor did, and with support for HD video recording.

Users who will purchase the new Galaxy S II flavor will also benefit from 16GB of internal memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot, so that users can add even more storage space into the mix.

Connectivity options such as WiFi and Bluetooth will also be there, along with built-in GPS receiver, 3.5mm headphone jack, and the usual set of sensors.

The same as the original, the new Galaxy S II model will run under Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system, and will offer support for various applications and services available for it.
