NEC's MultiSync collection of monitors continues to grow. The 22-Inch MultiSync E223W came out the other day, and now the MD211C2 and MD211C3 have joined their siblings as well.

The E223W is a more or less normal, office display, so it didn't bother trying to integrate too many perks. Even its resolution isn't legendary (1680 x 1050 pixels).

Of the MD211C2 and MD211C3, the former is somewhat similar in that it lacks Full HD support.

Then again, given the different aspect ratio, it is understandable, in a sense: 1600 x 1200 pixels.

The other monitor has a panel of 2048 x 1536 pixels, making it the high-end option for trained physicians working for high-profile hospitals or for their own practices.

“NEC is honored to receive FDA certifications for our MD211C2 and MD211C3 medical diagnostic displays,” said Art Marshall, product manager for professional desktop and medical displays at NEC Display Solutions.

“Our strong commitment to the medical industry is substantiated by these latest FDA certifications.”

NEC's 2- and 3-megapixel medical diagnostic displays boast Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and are factory calibrated to the DICOM grayscale function for luminance.

They also come with ambient light sensors (brightness adjustment based on light conditions, 900 and 800 cd/m2 maximum) and small front sensors that maintain a calibrated brightness.

Other specs include digital uniformity correction, and 14-bit internal lookup tables (LUT) that maximize color quality.

Finally, the 21.5-inch monitors (IPS panels with wide viewing angles) possess DVI-D and DisplayPort inputs, as well as USB hubs (one upstream connector, two downstream).

NEC expects customers to pay $4,299 / €3,297-4,299 and $5,499 / €4,217-4,299 for the MD211C2 and MD211C3. 5-years parts and labor warranty with Advanced Overnight Exchange, is included with both. Both displays are Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) compliant.
