NBC is reacting to reports claiming that it’s been negotiating with Casey Anthony’s attorney to get her to do her first post-trial interview, and that it has offered her a lot of money to do it. However, that isn’t to say that NBC won’t pay Anthony for the exclusivity, claims a new report.

As we also noted the other day, Anthony’s legal representative has been meeting with major networks to discuss financial arrangements for her first interview after the trial that saw her acquitted of the murder of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee.

According to reports, NBC, ABC and CBS are all throwing money at Anthony for the exclusive, even though all three claim that this is not standard procedure.

NBC has issued a statement to TMZ to deny ever offering Anthony money for the interview.

“We’ve talked with [Anthony’s attorney, Jose] Baez about getting an interview with Casey Anthony, but only under NBC News standards and conditions – no payment, and absolutely no job offers for any member of her defense team,” a statement from the network reads.

Even though the network says that it won’t pay Anthony for the interview, that doesn’t mean that she will not be making money from it, one way or another, the aforementioned e-zine points out.

It’s all a question of semantics, TMZ underlines.

“Read carefully – NBC is saying ‘no payment,’ but it refers to an ‘interview.’ That doesn’t cover paying huge money for pictures, video, etc.,” TMZ writes.

“That’s S.O.P. in the network game – and we’re told that’s one of the issues [Mark] Geragos covered with Baez,” the e-zine adds.

Reportedly, Geragos, a high-power attorney well versed in this type of negotiations, met with Baez at his hotel room, which NBC is paying for, to instruct him on how to conduct the talks for the interview and what conditions to set for it to happen, as we also informed you yesterday.

Since springing out of jail, Anthony has not made any public appearance – and it is believed she will only emerge for the explosive television interview.
