14 DAY TRIAL // The sequel to the popular N.O.V.A. first-person shooter game, N.O.V.A. 2 HD has just been released by Gameloft and is now available for download via Android Market.
Although the game was available for download from the developer's website for more than a week, only recently N.O.V.A. 2 HD debuted on Google's Android Market storefront.
It appears that the game is now compatible on fewer devices, but gamers that own a high-end Android smartphone with NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset or the latest generation of CPUs manufactured by Samsung and Qualcomm than this game should run without any problem.
In comparison with the original Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance, the sequel now features new enemies, a larger range of weapons and powers, as well as much more diversified gameplay, including abilities such as: run, shoot, fall, drive a motorbike, pilot a giant mech, and blast a laser.
Story-wise, it seems that 6 years have passed since the events depicted in the first episode and the humanity is now thrown into a bloody civil war fought on one side by the central government of the Terran Orbitals and the self-appointed Human-Alien Alliance.
The latter is a new organization with a mysterious origin and agenda. Gamers take the role of Kal Wardin who left active service in N.O.V.A. years ago and now lives among the colonists of the desert planet Scorpius.
The single-player campaign features 12 chapters and over a dozen weapons, including the dual hand guns, assault rifle, shotgun and sniper rifle.
Players have three new special powers at their disposal: Freeze, Slow Time and Disc for melee combat.
Multiplayer is an important part of the game, as the games allows up to 10 players to play online or locally.
There are 5 multiplayer modes to choose from, including Free for All, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Freeze Tag and InstaGib.
N.O.V.A. 2 HD is now available for download from Android Market for $6.99 and is compatible with smartphones running Android 2.2 or newer.
