Evolution Studios, the creator of PlayStation 3 exclusive racing franchise Motorstorm, has just revealed a few new details about the latest installment in the series, Motorstorm Apocalypse.

The new racing game was revealed quite some time ago, but except the promise that players will be racing through a derelict version of Earth, after a supposed apocalypse, nothing else was known.

Now, director of the game, Matt Southern, has posted on the official PlayStation blog a lot of new details about Motorstorm Apocalypse.

First off, players will be able to customize their rides and talents through the introduction of perks, as well as interact with others through new taunts and gestures that can be performed during a race.

As revealed during its initial announcement, the new Motorstorm game will be playable in full stereoscopic 3D, meaning everyone can enjoy blazing through the ruins in high-powered vehicles in glorious 3D, if they have a compatible television set.

Southern also admitted that exclusive goodies would be revealed before the release of the game, including developer diaries, avatars for the PlayStation Network, dynamic themes or other exclusives for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

The game will feature a new Photo Mode, which can capture gameplay images at high resolutions, and also has an array of tools that can augment it with special post-effects, to capture that perfect picture.

Motorstorm Apocalypse will also benefit from a solid stream of post-release content, which will consist of things the Evolution team didn't have time to fit into the final game, including a special island track that might be offered for free.

Southern said that a final release date has yet to be set, but expect the new Motorstorm Apocalypse to arrive in Spring of 2011, with a demo scheduled to appear just before that.

A new trailer for the game was also released, showcasing the Skyline track that will be featured in the title, which can be viewed below.
