In the UK

Motorola is launching its Z10 banana-shaped slider in the UK together with a movie competition, called DirectorME, that gives users the chance to win the new phone as well a "big prize" of no less than ?10,000 in cash (that's almost $20,000 and about 12,560 Euros).

To enter the competition, amateur filmmakers have to record a short clip (no more than 90 seconds) based on one of the 4 "loglines" given by Motorola. A logline is apparently synonym with "tag-line" - a sentence/phrase that best describes what the film is about. Moto's loglines are funny, and include "Never too old for revenge - pensioner with a grudge" or "Fashion disaster brings unlikely couples together", so all those who will enter the competition will most probably have a lot of fun when recording their films.

The first phase of the contest will end on May 30, when 20 of the clips entered into the competition will be selected and their makers will each get a Motorola Z10. The second phase will require the 20 finalists to record new films, but this time with their new Z10, and to upload them until June 13. The big winner will receive ?10,000, as well wide recognition and, who knows, s/he might actually turn out to be the next Steven Spielberg.

As for the Z10 itself, the handset runs on Symbian UIQ and packs advanced features like a 2.2 inch scratch-resistant display with 16 million colors and 240 x 320 pixels, a 3.15 Megapixel camera with video (QVGA at 30 fps), auto focus and xenon flash, 3G connectivity for fast data transfer speeds, Bluetooth 2.0, email and Internet capabilities, plus microSD card support for up to 32 GB.

Staying true to the "multimedia phone" title, Moto Z10 comes with a 1GB memory card, where users will have the surprise to find The Bourne Trilogy, the film series starring Matt Damon and including "The Bourne Identity," "The Bourne Supremacy" and "The Bourne Ultimatum".

There's no word yet on the price of Z10, but it will be disclosed soon, when the phone becomes available. Until then, think about how your film will look like (think smart if you really want to win the above mentioned prizes) and head on over to the DirectorME website to find out more about the competition.
