Motorola Xyboards slates have been officially introduced in the United States earlier this month. However, the tablets hit shelves only recently and can now be ordered via Motorola's official site.

Both tablets come in two variants, depending on the storage amount. Motorola Xyboard 8.2 Wi-Fi 16GB is available for purchase for $400, while the 32GB model can be bought for $500.

The slightly larger Motorola Xyboard 10.1 Wi-Fi 16GB can be acquired for $500, whereas the 32GB variant can be purchased for $600. Customers who order any of the four models will also benefit from free 2-day shipping.

Their LTE-enabled twins have been officially introduced at Verizon Wireless last month. Altough none of the slates are shipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandiwch on board, Motorola promised a few weeks ago that it will upgrade these tablets, along with the XOOM, sometime in Q1 2012.

True to its promise, the company already delivered Ice Cream Sandwich to Wi-Fi only XOOM tablets, about a week ago.

Both Wi-Fi only Xyboards feature similar specs sheet with minor differences. Design-wise, the tablets feature nano-coating which protects them from accidental spills.

On the inside, the slates are equipped with a 1.2 Ghz dual-core TI OMAP 4430 processor, a PowerVR SGX540 grapics processing unit, 16GB/32GB of internal memory and 1GB of RAM.

On the back, both tablets sport a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, LED flash and HD (720p) video recording, as well as a secondary 1.3-megapixel front facing camera for self-portraits and video chats.

The tablets feature different-sized displays, 8.2-inch and 10.1-inch. Both are HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreens with 800 x 1280 pixels support and 16 million colors.

It is also worth mentioning that the Xyboard 10.1 is powered by a 7000 mAh Li-Ion battery rated for up to 10 hours of continous usage, while the Xyboard 8.2 features a 3960 mAh Li-Ion battery, which should provide up to 6 hours of continuous usage.
