Motorola XOOM, the high-end tablet PC that Motorola unveiled in early January with Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system on board, should hit shelves in the UK in April, following a period of pre-order that already kicked off.

The device, which sports a 10.1-inch touchscreen display and a dual-core application processor, can be seen available for pre-order in the country via The Carphone Warehouse, which has exclusivity on it.

The tablet PC comes with 3G + Wi-Fi connectivity options, and sports a price tag of £599.99 at the retailer, SIM free. Included in this price, users would also receive a free charging dock worth £34.99, the retailer announced.

“The Motorola XOOM 3G tablet, only at The Carphone Warehouse. Already winning awards before its release, Motorola XOOM 3G is built to be beautiful, powerful and to bring you full HD entertainment, both at home and on the move,” The Carphone Warehouse notes on its website.

The retailer continues explaining that the Motorola XOOM is “the world's first Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) tablet, with software optimized for a bigger screen.”

The specifications list of this device includes a 10.1-inch display, with 16:10 aspect ratio, which delivers a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, and which can offer immersive gaming & movie playback.

Moreover, the tablet PC comes with HDMI out and full HD mirroring on HDTV, so that users can watch content straight on their TVs, as well as a dedicated graphics processing unit that would result in fast, furious gaming.

Moreover, the Android device comes with 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity capabilities, which would enable flexible Internet access at impressive speeds.

The tablet can record videos courtesy of the high-quality photo snapper packed on its back. And can offer video calling capabilities due to the front-facing camera it was equipped with.

As one would expect from an Android-based device, the Motorola XOOM also comes with support for a wide range of Google Mobile Services, as well as for applications available for download via the Android Market.
