Motorola XOOM, the first tablet PC in the world to run under Google's Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system, has just started to receive a software aimed at enabling it support the soon to come Adobe Flash Player 10.2 for mobile devices. Moreover, it seems that the new update is also bringing the OS version on the tablet PC up to Android 3.0.1, at least this is what some of the latest reports on the matter suggest.

Motorola themselves announced the availability of the new software update via the company's Twitter account:

Motorola XOOM update rolling out in phases starting tonight & includes required enhancements to support upcoming Adobe Flash Player 10.2,” the said tweet reads.

Basically, this means that not all those who already purchased the device would receive the update at the same time, and but that it would be pushed to all of them, eventually.

Some of the early reports on the matter suggest that the software also brought some fixes for various issues that Motorola XOOM arrived on the market with.

Among them, we can count a fix for a daylight savings time glitch the tablet PC had. Other improvements might have been included into the mix as well, but no official changelog was made available until now.

Unfortunately, specific info on when would the Adobe Flash Player 10.2 be released is not available at the moment, though rumor has it that it would be released within the next few weeks.

Previously, Adobe announced that the software would arrive in spring, but did not offer a specific release date for it.

When available, the Flash Player 10.2 will be included in the Android Market, Motorola notes on its support website, and XOOM users would be able to download it from there.

Undoubtedly, Motorola would offer more info on the matter as the roll-out process moves forth, so stay tuned for additional details on the matter.
