Yesterday, mobile phone maker Motorola Mobility went official with its plans to have the Motorola XOOM tablet PC available for purchase on the Canadian market in April, and some more info on the matter started to emerge.

Apparently, the Android-based tablet PC is already listed at Best Buy and Future Shop in the country, and is expected to become available for purchase by mid-April.

Both retailers list the handset with an April 15th availability date, and with a price tag of $599.99 attached to it.

The tablet PC comes with a dual-core 1 GHz application processor packed inside, and runs under Google's Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) operating system.

One of the main selling points of the new device would be its slim design, complemented by the large 10.1-inch touchscreen display that features support for HD content rendering.

“Inside its super-slim design, the Motorola XOOM tablet is loaded with everything you need for life on the go, Best Buy notes on its website.

“A super-fast 1GHz processor and Android 3.0 OS give you the speed and power you need to take total advantage of the dual cameras, 10.1'' HD display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 32GB internal memory and so much more that will keep you connected to everything,” the company continues.

The specifications list of Motorola XOOM would include 32GB of internal memory, 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back with support for video recording capabilities, and a 2MP front-facing camera for video calling.

The 10.1-inch widescreen HD display boasts a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. Moreover, the device comes with a GPS receiver and with support for Google Maps, as well as with built-in W-Fi connectivity, and with Bluetooth support.

One of the most appealing features that it arrives on shelves with would be support for Adobe Flash, which would deliver a great web browsing experience to all of its users.
