Motorola to bring iPhone competitor on the US market

Most leading handset producers have taken their chance on bringing a true "iPhone killer" phone. It looks like Motorola is now considering to launch a device with features highly similar to those of the iPhone. The question remaining is whether it will manage to surpass it in any way or not.

The world has grown tired of seeing mobile phone releases with the high hopes of surpassing Apple's phone. None of them has really managed to do this until now, as the iPhone stands pretty well grounded, despite all the handset producers' efforts. Motorola has been in no hurry until now to bring its own concept, although there are high chances that the company has been working on this for longer than we'd expect.

A top Motorola executive recently said that they will release a mobile phones in the US with touchscreen controls similar to those used in the Apple's phone. Chief Financial Officer Tom Meredith said that the iPhone's user interface is exceptional. Because of this, there are high chances for the company to bring a touchscreen phone in the US too, in order to compete with this device. An estimate date when this should happen has not been revealed, though.

The interesting thing is that, until the iPhone's release, regular buttons were more appreciated than a touchscreen interface. Not only this, but the phone also brought a huge advantage to other handset producers too. Apple's phone made consumers much more receptive to innovation, which opened the path for new phone concepts to be made real.

Motorola already includes touch sensitivity in many of its devices, but none of them is similar to the iPhone. Having a huge display screen, no buttons and a simple design is what other "killers" have used in their attempt to surpass Apple's phone. That strategy is getting old, desperately asking for some innovations in competing with such an evolved handset.
