Motorola introduced two handsets in Peru in the last two weeks, the Motorola i475w and Motorola SCREEN MINI EX132.

However, while the former is available through major carrier Nextel, the latter can be purchased via CLARO. The same goes for the recently launched Motorola SPICE XT, which can be bought for $550 (423 EUR) outright from CLARO.

The carrier offers additional pricing options for the new Motorola SPICE XT with the i129 Smart postpaid plan for 18 months starting at $55 (42 EUR).

More price options are available as well, but the amount varies according to the plan and months of the device contract agreement signed by the customer (6, 12 or 18 months).

The Motorola SPICE XT is a state of the art device that gives younger users, who seek to live always connected, all they expect from a premium smartphone at an affordable price,” said Hugo Gonzalez CLARO´s director of sales and distribution.

Motorola SPICE XT is the South American version of the Motorola FIRE XT, which was launched in Europe. The smartphone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread and comes with a decent 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display with 320 x 480 pixels resolution.

In addition, the handset features Moto Switch UI, which allows users to toggle between “Business,” “Entertainment” and “Personal” modes while on the move.

The SPICE XT is equipped with an 800 MHz processor and an Adreno 200 graphics processing unit, as well as 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

There’s also a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, as well as a secondary VGA front-facing camera for video calls.

Motorola smartphones have become an integral and personal part of its users´ life. That's why our Company believes that its devices should be fun, pleasing to the eye and full-featured," concluded Alexander Zawadzki, Motorola Mobility´s country manager for Peru.
