Other Asia-Pacific countries are getting the update as well

Shortly after European owners of Motorola RAZR have gotten a software update, the handset maker announced the availability of another update for RAZR devices in India, as well as other Asia-Pacific countries.

However, there’s no indication that these software updates bring the same changes to the Motorola RAZR smartphones. Fortunately, Motorola has provided official change logs for both software updates, so Motorola RAZR owners can check them thoroughly to see what changes have been included.

While the European update includes quite a range of improvements and new apps, the Asian update only brings a handful of enhancements and one new application.

According to Motorola, the 168MB software update brings Indian Motorola RAZR units improved auto-focus performance for the 8-megapixel camera.

In addition, Indian owners of the RAZR will also receive a bonus EA game, “Bejeweled 2.” Unfortunately, Motorola mentions that the game is not available for RAZR owners living in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

The update is pushed OTA (over the air) in waves, so users can download it via 3G network or Wi-Fi connectivity. Obviously, the latter is the cheaper choice, as the update’s size is around 168MB.

For a successful installation, we recommend installing this update when the battery of your phone is at least 50% charged and you are connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Those who have already been notified on the update can download and install it following the step-by-step instructions. The option to manually download and install the software update is available as well, but only if the update has already been pushed to the device.

To manually check for the update head over to System settings / About phone / System updates and select Download if the new software update shows up. The installation process should take between 5-8 minutes, after which the phone reboots itself.
