Motorola's latest handset powered by Google's Android operating system, the Motorola MOTOROI, is expected to see great demand in South Korea, the market where it will first arrive. According to SK Telecom, the wireless carrier that will have the device available exclusively in the country, the pre-order volumes for the MOTOROI are expected to top 50,000 units by February 4.

The South Korean mobile phone carrier already offers its users the possibility to order the new Android phone in advance, and it reports that, starting with January 26, the day in which it kicked off the pre-orders for MOTOROI, an average of 3,000 users showed interest in the phone each day. Moreover, the carrier says that the registrations accelerate as the launch day approaches, and that around 50,000 of users should be registered for the device at the end of the 9 days of pre-order availability of MOTOROI, reports Telecoms Korea.

The Motorola MOTOROI is the first handset that arrives in South Korea with Google's Android 2.0 operating system on board, something that seems to be of great advantage for the device. At the same time, SK Telecom further states that the high demand for the phone is probably based on three main factors, namely the appeal of fast Internet browsing, the capability to play high-quality multimedia, and optimized drivers for Google services.

The new mobile phone from Motorola comes to the market with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, an 8-megapixel camera with Xenon flash and 720-pixel HD video recording capabilities, support for mobile TV (T-DMB), Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity options, as well as the possibility to expand the available memory to up to 32GB.

The one very appealing thing that MOTOROI seems to lack is the MotoBlur solution from Motorola, but that does not mean that the user experience will be diminished, as users will still have access to a great deal of Google services, social networking sites and more. Overall, SK Telecom expects to be able to sell a number of 2 million smartphones during the ongoing year, as it will add more devices to its offering, 13 of which should run under Android.
