Motorola has just announced the immediate availability of the affordable DEFY MINI smartphone in Brazil. The phone can be purchased starting this week via authorized resellers for around $360 USD (270 EUR) outright.

As the name suggests, DEFY MINI is the smallest of the DEFY family. The rugged device is dust and water resistant, and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating.

The rugged Motorola DEFY MINI features a crystal-clear 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports 320 x 240 pixels resolution and 262k colors.

Aside from the cheap price, the phone's main selling point is the long battery life. The DEFY MINI drains energy from a 1650 mAh Li-Ion battery, which is rated by the manufacturer for up to 500 hours of standby time or up to 10 hours of talk time.

With the 3-megapixel rear photo snapper that features LED flash, users will be able to snap photos of their adventures and share them via pre-loaded social networking apps.

There's also a secondary VGA front-facing camera, which is perfectly suitable for video chat with friends and family while on the go.

The smartphone is powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread platform with the new MotoSwitch interface, which filters users' contacts according to who they talk to most and which apps they use the most.

Hardware-wise, Motorola DEFY MINI is equipped with a low-performance 600 MHz single-core processor and packs 512 MB of ROM, 512 MB of RAM and microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 32GB).

Motorola DEFY MINI is just the right mix of style, value, performance and toughness. It can stand up to whatever your busy life throws at you, keep you connected and organized, and capture and share your once-in-a-lifetime adventures – all with resilience and style,” said Edson Bortolli, mobile devices products director, Motorola Mobility, Brazil.
