Wireless carrier T-Mobile is reportedly on its way to bring to the market a new Android-based device, the Motorola CLIQ 2, as the handset's name might has just made an official appearance into the wild.

We're not referring here to an official announcement on the handset's arrival on shelves, but merely to the fact that the CLIQ 2 name has just appeared at the US Patent and Trademark Office.

Since this is the last step before the official mark is released, one can expect for the CLIQ 2 name to emerge more often than before, with some more specific details on the device made available.

We should also note that this is not the first time the CLIQ 2 name is mentioned in regard to a possible Android-based mobile phone expected to arrive on shelves at T-Mobile.

The wireless carrier already has in its offering two such devices from Motorola, namely the Motorola CLIQ and the Motorola CLIQ XT, and the CLIQ 2 might join them in the near future too.

The CLIQ 2 mark was applied for back in August, but this does not come as a surprise, as it does take several months for the approval process to be completed.

According to some of the latest rumors on the upcoming Motorola CLIQ 2, we should see it landing on shelves with a sliding QWERTY keyboard, the same as the original CLIQ, which arrived on shelves more than a year ago.

Moreover, the Motorola CLIQ 2 might also be pushed to the market with Google's Android 2.2 operating system on board, on top of which Motorola is expected to have loaded its own MotoBlur user interface.

The specifications list of this device should also include Wi-Fi calling and 3G mobile hotspot capabilities, as well as a “gapless keyboard.”

Currently, the existence of this device is only a supposition, though most clues indicate an upcoming release. Keep an eye on this space for additional info on the matter.
