14 DAY TRIAL // Motorola has just announced its intention to help consumers comply with recent legislation changes affecting cell phone use while driving. The company aims to achieve this by launching three new hands-free devices: Finiti, CommandOne and Roadster.
In addition to standard hands-free calling functionality, all three devices are designed to integrate an innovative technology that enables users to reply to text messages (SMS) by using their voice.
Called MotoSpeak, the new feature uses text-to-speech and speech-to-text technology so users can hear received texts and dictate a response.
“Transitioning to hands-free devices is easier than most people may think,” said Wayne White, corporate vice president, Companion Products, Motorola Mobile Devices.
“These special events are a unique opportunity for consumers to experience the convenience of the devices first hand, while testing out their multi-tasking skills,” added White.
The release announcement follows the introduction of bans on texting or handset use while driving in five new states, Delaware, Massachusetts, Maryland, Oklahoma and Wisconsin, starting this year.
Motorola Finiti is packed with Motorola's proprietary CrystalTalk noise reduction technology, Echo cancellation and Stealth Mode. It measures 54 x 18.5 x 11 mm and weighs only 12g. The battery is rated by the manufacturer for up to 6 days of standby time or up to 5 hours of talk time. The device can be purchased for $129.99
Motorola CommandOne Bluetooth Headset has the same features as the Finiti, but a slightly longer standby time, 7 days instead of 6. The device can be purchased for $129.99
Motorola Roadster comes with a dedicated mute button, FM transmitter and weighs 87g. The battery is rated for up to 3 weeks of standby time or up to 20 hours of talk time. The device can be purchased for $99.99
Currently, consumers can save 25% on each of three hands-free devices. The offer stands until the end of the year.
