Motorola ATRIX users across Europe who were waiting for Android 2.3 Gingerbread to arrive on their devices should know that Motorola is gearing up for the launch of this software update as soon as Q4.

The software update already started to arrive on devices in other parts of the world, but users on the European continent will not enjoy access to it until September is over.

The mobile phone maker has just announced on its Facebook page plans to make the software update available for users in early fourth quarter of the year.

“Hi all, many of you have asked when Android 2.3 will come to Motorola ATRIX - we expect to begin rolling out the Android 2.3 upgrade in Europe in early Q4, and we will let you know more details on timing as they become available,” the said post reads.

Motorola has had some issues with delivering software updates to its devices until now, but chances are that all this would change as soon as Google completes the acquisition of the mobile phone maker.

The Internet giant has announced in the beginning of this week that it agreed to purchase Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion.

Until the transaction is completed, however, unhappy users will continue to express their feelings on the various channels they have at their disposal, Facebook included.

The fact that Motorola pushed back updates for many of its devices has made a lot of users angry, and they are asking new software not only for the ATRIX, but also for phones like the Milestone or the Defy.

The Motorola ATRIX is based on the Android 2.2 Froyo OS flavor, and packs a dual-core application processor inside, complemented by 1GB of RAM for increased performance capabilities.

The availability of Android 2.3 for it will offer users a better experience than before, with increased phone responsiveness and better performance capabilities.
