Earlier this month, during the Consumer Electronics Shows in Las Vegas, mobile phone maker Motorola announced officially the upcoming availability of a powerful Android-based device, the Motorola ATRIX, on the airwaves of wireless carrier Bell in Canada.

Although official, the upcoming handset still does not have an exact release date announced for the Canadian wireless carrier, but rumor has it that mid-March might be the lucky time frame for end-users.

Apparently, Motorola and the wireless services provider would be on their way to launch the new Android smartphone come March 17th, at least this is what a leaked document from Bell, which emerged over at MobileSyrup, notes.

Undoubtedly, the Motorola ATRIX would be able to make a lot of users rejoice, with that 1GHz dual core Tegra 2 application processor from NVIDIA that it has been packed inside with.

The specifications list of the handset would also include 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, WiFi, as well as a 1930 mAh battery.

Moreover, the upcoming mobile phone was also packed with a 5-megapixel rear-facing photo snapper with LED flash and 720p HD video recording, as well as with a VGA front-facing camera for video calling.

Running under Google's Android 2.2 Froyo operating system with Motoblur, the new mobile phone would receive an upgrade to Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Motorola announced.

Apparently, the said March 17th release day might not be the final targeted date for the handset, as the aforementioned document states: “planned release date, may vary from different retailers.” Detail on the price tag the Motorola ATRIX might feature lack at the moment.

We should also note that the said document listed other devices as well, including the LG Optimus Chic, which was already launched on shelves, or the HTC HD7, which might arrive on February 10th. Keep an eye on this space for additional info on the matter.
