All new games

Obsessed collectors and more casual role playing fans should be happy to know that Nintendo is set to launch Pokemon Black and White, two new games in the long running franchise, in the fall of this year. For the first time since the launch of Diamond and Pearl, the Japanese company will offer new adventures for the Pokemon to experience, taking full advantage of the fresh features of the Nintendo DS line up of handhelds. And it seems that a host of information for the game will arrive on April 15.

In typical mysterious language, Nintendo has said Black and White will be offering “groundbreaking evolution of all aspects,” without talking about specific changes that will be made to gameplay. Players can expect to explore a variety of areas both original and taken from other Pokemon properties and to then battle a variety of new and old monsters. At the moment, only two fresh Pokemon have been announced for Black and White, Zorua and Zoroark, who are also set to appear in a movie opening in Japan in July.

Nintendo also seems satisfied to maintain the concept of two separate releases of pretty much the same content that pushes players to trade the monsters they get and interact with one another. It's also interesting to note that Nintendo has not made Pokemon Black and White a launch title for the newly announced 3DS handheld, which is set to arrive in 2011. Either the company expects to delay that launch and does not want the Pokemon schedule to be affected or another title in the franchise is planned to show off the 3D capabilities of the new gaming platform.

Lately, Nintendo has been specializing in remakes of older Pokemon titles, which, nevertheless, managed to sell quite a lot of copies. Pokemon Platinum, Heart Gold and Soul Silver all succeeded in selling millions of units. The company probably expects Pokemon Black and White, with their all new content, to do even better.
