Nintendo has already announced that Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver will be released in the United States on March 14 and now the Japanese console manufacturer and videogame publisher has revealed that those who pick up the game on the Nintendo DS and DSi handhelds will also get a Pokewalker accessory that will allow them to never be truly separated from their virtual friends.

As the name implies, the Pokewalker is connected to the idea of the player actually going around on foot while carrying the new accessory. As the gamer moves, the small object will record the distance and will translate it into Watts, which can then be used in the Pokewalker itself to hunt down new Pokemon types and hunt for a series of hidden items.

Some of the creatures available in Heart Gold and in Soul Silver can be transferred to the Pokewalker and might turn into unique variations that they could not otherwise obtain and any object or creature obtained in the new accessory can be then transferred to one of the two titles and be used as any other piece of content.

Nintendo has not neglected the social aspect and any two Pokewalkers can be connected through a wireless link in order for two players to exchange items and see each others’ creatures. It's not clear whether each Pokewalker is tied to just one copy of the new Nintendo titles or whether they can be used interchangeably.

Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver are Nintendo DS remakes of titles that initially appeared on the Game Boy system. Players will go back to the Johto region and will be able to experience all new content, as well as their old stomping grounds. The touch screen control scheme allows the player more options in dealing with the various Pokemons and with the environments.
