New downloadable content to rock and roll the Xbox Live Marketplace

If you're a Guitar Hero fan and you've got an Xbox 360 and the game, you're bound to be waiting for more songs for your favorite rockin' game. RedOctane promised some more content for the blockbuster Guitar Hero II, the Xbox 360 version and we'll see new tracks in July on the Xbox Live Marketplace.

This isn't the first time we've heard about new downloadable content for the 360 GH II, as there are already three track pack featuring some of the songs from the original Playstation 2 Guitar Hero. There have been no comments on the current rumors that next track packs will also include tracks from the first Guitar Hero title. While we're waiting and praying for new rock songs that would rock the stage, die-hard rockers are drooling at the perspective of playing the Rock Band title, that follows the recipe of GH, plus a few more features.

Will the Guitar Hero series be able to compete with Rock Band? Not as long as the new title comes with a great peripheral from Fender, that's two times cooler than the original guitar joystick we used while playing the PS2 and the Xbox 360 games. As long as the series has fans, there will always be new tracks packs and we're hoping to get some new tunes, preferably from new albums of unconventional artists. One might wonder why there aren't any Marilyn Manson or System of a Down songs in Guitar Hero, but when you think about it, I couldn't picture rock stars from those bands negotiating with the game's producers for a contract.

Perhaps the new content on Xbox Live Marketplace will be new stages, costumes for your rock stars, even new characters, but we'll certainly be happy with a couple of hardcore songs or even some "softies" for the girls to enjoy.
