Every now and then a title comes out of nowhere to prove that new ideas can still exist in our daily games, even though many would wonder if there is still something left to invent. Koei proves with a Nintendo DS title - Monster Racers - that a racing game can be mixed with role playing and platformer elements, as well as the fun monster collecting and breeding. A 4-in-1 type of game that seems to do everything great.

Although we'll get the chance to see for ourselves if Monster Racers is indeed the great innovative title it promises to be only in 2009, we can check the details and get hyped by them. For example, in the game you will be able to create lasting friendships and even alliances with other characters as well as historic rivalries. Your mission will be to search for different types of monsters, train them and let them race for you and bring you all the trophies in the world.

"By combining real-time racing and platform-style action with the fun of monster collecting and breeding, Monster Racers brings to life a colorful and unforgettable world that has fallen in love with this exciting new sport." said Amos Ip, senior vice president at Koei Corporation.

One of the most fun elements of the game is monster capturing - you will have to get all your monsters from their natural habitat, and that's going to be a real challenge! Also, when you go racing, you'll have to get over a host of obstacles that will test your ability to jump, the speed you have and other similar attributes.

Multiplayer is also an option if you get bored with the AI or you just prefer to socialize with your friends (and, of course, beat the hell out of them). Up to four players can compete in race tournaments together or even embark on safaris to capture new animals. So, having all these in mind, I can say that the only problem is the fact that Monster Racers won't be launched sooner...
