It seems that crossovers are all the rage in the gaming industry at the moment as Capcom and Konami have announced that they will be collaborating in order to introduce a fully equipped Monster Hunter into Lost Planet 2, the shooter set to be launched this year for the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3.

The new costume will only be available for those who are playing on the Sony home console. Those interested in the Microsoft platform will be getting access to the protagonists of the Gears of War series, Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, when they pick up Lost Planet 2.

Monster Hunter is very much collaboration-friendly, with Hideo Kojima, the creator of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, announcing that a white area in the PlayStation Portable title will be Monster Hunter-themed, with Snake able to go in and use his weapons and stealth system in order to take down a variety of fantasy creatures.

Capcom is not saying when the Monster Hunter outfit will be offered and how much it will cost fans of the series. Those who are not interested in that series will also be able to get a Wesker costume, taken from Resident Evil 5 and a Frank West characters taken from Dead Rising. Again, prices and launch dates are not available.

Lost Planet 2 will take players ten years into the future of the planet known as E.D.N. III. There's no more snow on the surface and jungle has overtaken much of the area while the insect-like Akrid are back in much larger numbers. Capcom is using the “2” in the title as a squared indicator, trying to show how much bigger the game is on all levels. Four-player cooperative play has been confirmed and the boss fights in Lost Planet 2 will be significantly bigger than those in the first iteration.
