Modern Warfare 2 is set to be released on November 10 and gamers are now pretty much in the know regarding the plot of the title and what new mechanics it is set to offer when compared to the original.

In order to slake the thirst of fans until the release date, which is about a month away, Infinity Ward and Activision have let slip a few lists, detailing the maps that can be played in the multiplayer component of the title and the Achievements that players can earn to boost their Gamer Score on the Xbox 360; the PlayStation 3 probably has Trophies with similar conditions and similar names.

The maps you can use to battle with other players include: Afghan, Derail, Estate, Favela, Highrise, Invasion, Quarry, Rundown, Rust, Scrapyard, Skidrow, Sub Base, Substation, Terminal, Underpass, Uprise and Wasteland. The Special Ops missions, which are in co operative mode, include: Breach and Clear, O Cristo Redentor, Sniper Fi, Hidden, Suspension, Body Count, Acceptable Losses, Bomb Squad, Estate Takedown, Time Trial, The Pit, Snatch & Grab, Terminal, Wreckage, Overwatch, Big Brother, Evasion, Race, Homeland Security and Wardriving.

When it comes to Achievements, Modern Warfare 2 seems to prefer more of them with smaller values. There are just two worth 90 Gamer Points, “The Price of War,” offered for playing through the single player component on Veteran or on Hardened and “Star 69,” awarded to those who pick up 69 stars in Special Ops.

Most of the other Game Points are spread to Achievements worth 10 points. Infinity Ward seems to be more interested in rewarding the player for progress quickly and at every step rather than making them wait to accomplish something huge to get a new Achievement. A full list of them can be found on this site.
