Energy drink announcement

Modern Warfare 2, the first person shooter from Infinity Ward and Activision, is set to be released on November 10, 2009 and will probably attract millions of gamers. Some of them will buy the videogame for the single player campaign, which will probably be as tight and explosive as that from the first title in the series, but most of them will also be interested in the multiplayer element that still sells the first iteration and led to the formation of an impressive online community that scrutinized any change that the developers made to the videogame.

It seems that Infinity Ward already has plans laid out for the extra content for multiplayer, with the first map pack of the two that were already announced apparently slated to be released at some point during spring 2010.

Bizarrely, the announcement comes from an energy drink advertizing it can enable gamers to win the first Modern Warfare 2 map pack. There are some people at Infinity Ward and Activision who are probably mighty upset that their closely guarded release date has been narrowed down by a drink advertisement.

The developers have already specified that they are planning to launch the first downloadable content for Modern Warfare 2 on the Xbox 360 before it arrives on the PC and on the PlayStation 3, so it's not clear whether spring refers to the date for the Microsoft console or to that for all platforms.

Given that a rough date is not available for all, Infinity Ward might actually come out and make an official announcement.

Recently, the company revealed that it did not plan to put out a demo for Modern Warfare 2 as it was focusing resources on polishing the experience gamers would have as they buy the title on November 10.
