Mobile phone producers stop at nothing when it comes to easing the user's job and to bringing an extra drop of advanced technological luxury. With that consideration, Hitachi has announced that they will be using the fingerprint sensor on all their W51H phones from now on.

For enabling this technology, they will use AuthenTec sensors, just as the ones provided worldwide for most of biometric cell phone models. Thus, it is a partnership that will bring Hitachi the services of the world leader when it comes to fingerprint authentication sensors.

An AES1510 sensor will be mounted on the high-resolution display of the Hitachi W51H model in order to provide fast and easy mobile Internet browsing, as well as rapid function navigation. The phone's screen has a 2.9 inch 480x800 widescreen display.

In order to respond to fingerprint commands, each AuthenTec sensor uses the TruePrint technology. This means that it reads below the surface of the skin, where the fingerprint resides, every time a new finger uses the phone. In order to prevent function abuse, the AES1510 is especially designed to be immune to common shocks and wear caused by the exposed position of the sensor.

Hitachi is a Japanese leading global electronics company which mainly provides products and services for information systems, electronic devices, as well as power and industrial systems. Last year, its sales went up to almost 10 billion yen.

"Hitachi's W51H is a great example of the diversity of applications that can be served by our products. Critical user functions such as navigation, security and mobile payment authorization are all enabled by our biometric technology.", said James Yeh, AuthenTec's director of Wireless Marketing for Asia. Moreover, he declared that AuthenTec is "very pleased to add Hitachi and KDDI to our growing list of carriers and cell phone companies".

The retail cost of the Hitachi W51H phone is expected to be around $150 with contract and will be available to KDDI customers at the end of this month.
