According to a recently published report from Strategy Analytics, one of the main features that mobile phone users praised on their devices during the ongoing year was access to Google and Facebook. Moreover, as the research firm notes, most of the handset users that responded to its survey have declared that they were more interested in having access to Google from their handsets than on being able to access Bing.

The “Facebook and Google Most Desired Brands for Mobile” report from Strategy Analytics is mainly focused on the interest users have in the possibility of enjoying certain applications directly from their mobile phones. Thus, the survey shows that Google is more wanted than Microsoft's re-launched search engine Bing, as well as the fact that Facebook is far more desirable than other social networking solutions, including MySpace or Twitter. The report from the research firm also extended its reach towards the television channels that users prefer, and found that in the US people are very interested in FOX, Comedy Central and HBO, while those living in the UK show a greater interest in BBC1 and Sky Movies. Christopher Dodge, User Experience analyst at Strategy Analytics, noted, “In terms of television brands, consumers predominantly want access to the same entertainment channels that they watch at home (e.g. Fox, BBC1), rather than news channels and sports dedicated to their mobile devices.”

The new report from Strategy Analytics shows not only that Facebook and Google are the most wanted brands when it comes to Internet connectivity from a mobile phone, but also the fact that users tend to focus a lot on the personalization content and services they can access. “Personalized content and services are more desirable than access to media brands,” commented Paul Brown, senior analyst in the Strategy Analytics User Experience Practice. “Yahoo! rated highly in both the USA and UK, as did websites MapQuest and Weather.com in the US, and MSN in the UK.” Additional details on the report can be found on the firm's website.
