14 DAY TRIAL // Oscar-winning actress and comedienne Mo’Nique may have changed her mind about not shaving any part of her body except for the armpits. After rocking hair on her legs on the red carpet at last year’s Oscars, this year, she had some grooming before the nominees telecast.
Despite some criticism from the fans, Mo’Nique has constantly affirmed her belief that an unshaved leg is what best suits a black woman such as herself.
Furthermore, she repeatedly pointed out to how time-consuming shaving is, so she opted for the easier way, while also showing a looks-obsessed culture what a real woman’s leg really looked like.
Either she’s changed her mind about that or she’s been paid to have some grooming done, speculation online says, because her legs certainly looked different the other day.
As we also noted at the time, Mo’Nique and AMPAS boss Tom Sherak read out the nominations for the upcoming Academy Awards ceremony – and Mo’Nique no longer had hairy legs.
Dressed in a shiny metallic dress and with peep toe pumps, the star seemed to rock some stubble (so she didn’t shave just recently), but there was no visible hair on her legs – trust us, several celebrity blogs have carefully analyzed all her pictures to come to this conclusion.
Since she caused waves with her explanation on why she sees bodily hair as not a problem, it’s only understandable for her shaving it off to make headlines.
“I must show America what a real leg looks like... because it’s too much in the morning, every morning, to shave, to cut, you got Band-aids baby. I really think hair on a woman’s legs is a black woman’s thing,” Mo’Nique said a while back.
Also then, she explained how she shaved only her armpits to prevent the “stink.” She also made sure she lived by this, too: she showed off – literally – her hairy legs at the Golden Globes 2010 and the Oscars that same year.
