Minutes ago, Oscar-winning actress Mo’Nique and AMPAS boss Tom Sherak announced the nominations for the Academy Awards 2011, celebrating excellence in film for the year that ended.

There were some surprises, most of them pleasant, but a few unpleasant ones as well. “True Grit,” which was just recently released got several nods, while other “certain” contenders like Mark Wahlberg were overlooked.

The leaders in terms of number of nominations include “The King’s Speech,” “The Social Network,” “Inception” and “The Fighter.”

As expected, the critically acclaimed “Black Swan,” “Winter’s Bone” and the record-breaking “Toy Story 3” were also included in several major categories.

Quite surprisingly, Mark Wahlberg was not nominated for Best Actor, since what was supposed to be his “place” was taken by Javier Bardem for his role in “Biutiful,” which is also up for Best Foreign Film.

Similarly, Christopher Nolan was not included among the nominees for Best Director, even though “Inception” got several nominations and the consensus was that this would be the year when he’d have the biggest chance to win the statuette.

Another surprise was the inclusion of Michelle Williams in the Best Actress category for “Blue Valentine,” since industry watchers were almost convinced she would be overlooked this year.

Either way, it looks like the Oscars 2011 will be dominated by “The King’s Speech,” with the film scoring no less than 12 nominations, including for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay and Best Director.

Below is the list of the nominations for all the major categories. The Academy Awards 2011 will take place on February 2007 and will be broadcast live.
