Mirror's Edge is just getting better and better. DICE, best known for their Battlefield games, have taken on the almost impossible task of creating a free running game set in a utopian city which features very little to no shooting and also puts you in charge of the female characters. Initially, a lot of people thought that the game would not live up to its promise, but several trailers later, most people agree that Mirror's Edge is beginning to look like an interesting and cool game.

The people that write for the Electronic Games Magazine have visited the developer and saw a bit more of the game. During their visit, they saw one of the newest additions to the game. It seems that there's a time trial game mode which is activated at certain points in the game challenging you to complete some of the most difficult jumps as quickly as possible.

Tom Ferrer, who is a producer on the game, said that the portions where the newly revealed game mode is available in Mirror's Edge would be "bite-sized and short so you can grind them and play them and get faster and faster. It's not like playing an entire level". Since gaming is a competitive activity, you will be able to upload the highest scores you get to an online leader board so that you can compare them with those of all the other players.

The game will not feature a "real" open world, such as the one in Grand Theft Auto IV, as the developers are sure that guiding a player through a level and a story is more important than letting him run around the city without any clear goal. Still, the levels in Mirror's Edge will be very big, to accommodate the free running mechanic that the developers are creating.
