Harmonix and MTV Games, the two companies that are behind the success of the Rock Band franchise, have announced that Ministry will be the band which features in the downloadable content launched this week. Players who are enjoying their music simulation on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Nintendo Wii will be able to download and then play three new tracks from one of the best known bands in the industrial metal genre.

Ministry was formed way back in 1981 by Al Jourgensen but their first real hit came tn years later with “Jesus Built My Hotrod”, followed by the long play “Psalm 69: The Way to Succeed and the Way to Suck Eggs”. The band ended its career in 2008 but its songs have been living on in other artistic endeavors, like The Matrix trilogy, which got them a nomination for the Grammy Awards, and the more recent The Hurt Locker, a movie which received multiple Academy Awards.

Players will be able to enjoy three songs from the band: “Stigmata” is taken from the album “The Land of Rape and Honey”, launched in 1987; “Thieves” is featured on “A Mind is A Terrible Thing to Taste “ from 1989 while “Jesus Built My Hotrod” is form the aforementioned “Psalm 69”. The new songs will be introduced under the name “Ministry Pack 02” and each can also be picked up individually. The entire pack will cost 440 Microsoft Points on the Xbox 360, which is he equivalent of 5.49 dollars. Each track will be sold for 1.99 dollars, 200 Wii Points and 160 Microsoft Points.

Harmonix and MTV Games are now working on Rock Band 3, a new game that is set to be launched before Christmas and will fundamentally change the mechanics of the series, introducing keyboard simulation for the first time and adding a new difficulty layer for good players.
