Not long ago, Mike Sorrentino, aka The Situation, aka the man who made flashing your abs in public into a norm, of the “Jersey Shore” fame, was saying that he saw the MTV reality show as only a launching pad. As per his own words, he would not let the show limit himself in any way, and was already looking for new projects. One of these may be a stint on ABC’s popular Dancing With the Stars, TMZ reports.

The Situation is not the kind of guy that simply goes away when he’s not wanted, regardless of how much this may upset those who see him and “Jersey Shore” for a total and complete waste of time. So, if the DWTS producers did not think to ask him to appear on the upcoming season of the show, The Situation has taken matters into his own hands by courting the producers himself. Right now, he’s lobbying for the idea, the aforementioned e-zine says.

“The apocalypse is nigh – TMZ has learned The Situation is desperately trying to expand his empire... entering into secret negotiations to appear on the next season of Dancing with the Stars. Nothing’s official yet – but according to sources close to the reality star, the deadline for negotiations is Monday... so we should have a definite answer by then. The Sitch’s manager, Mike Petolino, begs to differ, telling TMZ, ‘There are no plans for DWTS at this moment’,” TMZ writes.

If this is accurate and Sorrentino does land a job next on Dancing With the Stars, this would mean he’s one step closer to seeing his dream come true: that of being more than just a face on “Jersey Shore.” As also noted above, not long ago, The Situation was saying he was looking to make the most of his 15 minutes of fame, including coming out with a rap studio album and perhaps doing feature films as well.

“Maybe it’s the abs or maybe it’s the green eyes. The Situation does look pretty good on TV, so maybe that’s what it is,” The Situation was saying at the time, speaking of himself in the third person. “He’s got a lot going on. He’s got a clothing line, songs, he’s all over the place. I’ll congratulate ‘The Situation’ myself. He’s doing pretty good. This is just a way into the door for me. Reality is a stepping stone for me. Being one of the biggest names in reality or the country or the world or whatever, I definitely want to start moving into scripted and films in another year or two,” he added.
