They say “Jersey Shore” is arguably the vilest reality show ever to come out from MTV, but that’s not stopping either of the cast members from making a name for themselves using it as a launching pad. Mike Sorrentino “The Situation,” for instance, is bent on giving music a serious go and is preparing to launch a rap career – and the world can already listen to a snippet of what he has in store, AceShowbiz informs.

As it must be common knowledge by now, the reality show is based on a “Real World” type of scenario, focusing on the life of a group of people who stand out from the crowd because of their origin. In recent weeks, the “Jersey Shore” cast has been getting increased attention in the media, even being invited to attend the MTV Movie Awards, the 2010 issue and do hosting gigs on the red carpet and starring in Enrique Iglesias’ latest video, for “I Like It,” a collaboration with Pitbull.

This in mind, it’s no wonder all those appearing on the show are looking to capitalize on their 15 minutes of fame, The Situation included. “Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino is set to follow the footsteps of fellow reality TV stars such as Paris Hilton, Heidi Montag and Tila Tequila by extending his career to music. He is gearing to release his first single this week,” AceShowbiz writes. A snippet from the track is already available online and, as TMZ puts it, it’s just what one may expect from him and must be listened to at one’s own risk.

“A self-titled track, the song heavily features AutoTune and has summertime vibe on it. It is The Situation’s collaboration with Fatman Scoop, DJ Class and The Disco Fries, according to TMZ who exclusively got its hands on the short snippet. In related news, The Situation has been announced as one of the nominees at 2010 Teen Choice Awards. He is up for Choice TV: Male Reality/Variety Star, facing off fellow ‘Jersey Shore’ star DJ Pauly D, Lee DeWyze (‘American Idol’), Brody Jenner (‘The Hills’) and Bret Michaels (‘The Celebrity Apprentice’). The winner will be announced at Katy Perry-hosted gala on August 9,” the aforementioned media outlet further says.

As also noted above, TMZ has the first snippet from The Situation’s rap track. Whether he has any plans to come out with an album as well is not known yet, but this may depend entirely on how well his first track is received. For more on this keep an eye on this space.
