FusionOne, one of the leaders in mobile content portability, recently announced that it finished to port its MightyBackup, which is now fully compatible with Qualcomm’s Brew Mobile Platform (Brew MP). The entire process of integration and optimization has been executed as part of Qualcomm’s 3Pre Program.

With more than 80 percent of mobile phone users in the U.S. still on feature phones and looking to transition to smartphones in the near future, the need for an efficient service that ensures a smooth transfer of content is more important than ever,” said Mohan Sadashiva, senior vice president of marketing at FusionOne.

MightyBackup seems to be similar to a few other solutions already implemented by various mobile phone manufacturers, such as Samsung Dive service or LG's Cloud Computing. Basically, MightyBackup solution stores and transfers mobile phone content, such as contacts, photos and videos, and purchased content and enables users to manage their stored content via an online web interface.

In case the device is stolen or lost, users will be able to remotely purge all their content from it, thus keeping their personal information secure. FusionOne, the developer of the solution promises that subscribers will get continuity, security, and easy data protection and migration, content developers will maintain and grow revenue streams, while carriers will be able to improve retention.

With tens of millions of downloads coming from a tier-1 carrier branded version, MightyBackup is already the number-one most-downloaded Brew app, and this Brew MP-enabled version builds on that success,” stated Mohan Sadashiva, senior vice president of marketing at FusionOne.

According to Sadashiva, the Brew MP version of MightyBackup is currently available as a carrier-branded application. It is backward compatible with older versions of Brew and offers integration capabilities for Brew application developers.
