Video game publisher Ubisoft has announced that its upcoming turn-based strategy title Might & Magic: Heroes VI has been delayed to September 8 of this year, with the company saying that the game will have a chance to achieve its full potential in the coming months.

A short statement from Ubisoft reads: “We want to ensure that the quality of the game will go beyond your expectations.”

Unfortunately, this kind of delays, which come shortly before a launch period, usually mean that the publisher is not satisfied with the work the development team has been putting in and grants them an extension in order to salvage the product.

The developer for Might & Magic: Heroes VI is Black Hole Games, a team that has also worked on Warhammer: March of Chaos and on Armies of Exigo.

Both the mentioned strategy games had a number of good ideas and aimed to create a believable fantasy world and deliver interesting strategy puzzles to the player but both suffered from a number of issues and did not perform as well as expected.

Might & Magic: Heroes VI will take place in the world of Ashan, which was also used for the action title Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, and will happen a few hundred years before the events seen in the previous game in the series.

The story will follow the Falcon Empire, which is mostly made up of human haven type towns, and will see the mighty nation crumble under the assault of a number of forces in order to create a space where the new Griffin Empire will rise.

Heroes VI will have a lot of the hallmark features of the series, including role-playing elements, new options for all heroes, a number of new fantasy units and choices that will steer each main hero towards good or evil.
