Why would they anyway? If they had, the Elite would have gotten it

A little while ago, Peter Moore was said to have commented on the possibility of the Xbox 360 supporting Blu-ray format, as a supposed Associated Press post would have said. As it turns out, "These reports are completely incorrect" and the "alleged Associated Press story? does not exist," Gamerscore blog reports.

The rumors however seem to have been fueled by Moore's comments in an ITmedia interview in January, "where Peter said Xbox 360 has the flexibility to adapt to consumers' needs, allowing Microsoft to add features as consumers demand them - as evidenced by the offering of the HD DVD Player as an accessory," the site says.

Clearing the blur away on why Moore's comments in regards to the format Microsoft uses or may use in the future, here's the full answer to the misunderstanding:

"It is important to understand the context in which that statement was made. We firmly stand behind the HD DVD format as the best choice for consumers. Current reports indicating that Microsoft has a back-up plan, which includes Blu-ray support are incorrect. We're fully committed to HD DVD and have absolutely no plans to support other optical formats."

And why would they? Much good it did Sony and the PS3 huh? Besides, there's no significant difference between the two formats anyway, and for Microsoft to start adopting Blu-ray too, they'd have to have some serious reasons, like a new hardware piece. A new gaming system maybe...? Naaa!
