Halo: Reach is set to be launched on September 14 exclusively on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft and the publisher is stepping up the promotional campaign for the new action shooter by introducing the Monument of Light, a virtual structure set to honor the heroes of the battle of Reach, that will be accessible at RememberReach.

The site will allow each gamer to contribute one point of actual light to the construction of the monument.

Actual construction work is being handled by a complex robotic arm that can be seen in action at the official site, with movement and light being combined to create something truly special for fans of the series.

The new site is also set to carry three new live action short movies that will show how the planet Reach looked before the brutal Covenant assaulted it in what was to become the most important battle of their war with the United Nations Space Command.

On August 26 fans of Halo will be able to see the final live action short for the first time, titled “Deliver Hope” and directed by the award winning Noam Murro.

Microsoft has already indicated that the marketing campaign for Halo: Reach will be the most expensive and expansive effort it has dedicated to a video game launch.

The company is also saying that it plans to make sure that those who are not completely familiar with the Halo universe can understand what the new Reach is all about and what kind of experience it aims to offer when it is launched.

Microsoft is also pushing hard for gamers to get one of the Limited or Legendary Editions of the game, which come complete with collectibles and sell for more than the standard edition.

Halo: Reach is the last hurrah for Bungie, which will then move on to work with publisher Activision for the next ten years on a new intellectual property.
