Memory cards and refurbished hard disks

We reported yesterday that an official statement came from Microsoft regarding the storage specifications needed by their new dashboard update, commonly referred to as the New Xbox Experience. The update and all of its features will require the Xbox 360 to have at least 128 MB of storage empty in order to function properly, which was really worrisome for users of the Core and Arcade versions because their storage capabilities were very limited.

In order to help them with the problem, the Redmond-based giant said that it would come up with solutions soon, and it looks like it was hard at work because these solutions have been released today.

A memory upgrade program is now underway on the Xbox website, offering console users valuable info on the matter. In this context, those who don't have any kind of storage equipment can enter the serial number of their Xbox on this site and find out if their console is eligible for an upgrade.

This upgrade offers Core owners the chance to choose between a 512 MB memory card and a refurbished 20 gigabyte hard drive, for 19.99 dollars. The owners of an Xbox 360 Arcade version can buy a refurbished 20 GB hard disk and a three-month subscription to the Xbox Live service for only 29.99 dollars.

All in all, some very great ideas from Microsoft, bound to make the Core and Arcade owners very happy.

For those of you who don't know, the New Xbox Experience is the latest and biggest update coming for the Xbox 360 console. Due to be released on November 19, the update will bring a variety of new features to the console and, most importantly, a much more accessible user interface than the old blade system.
