Mobile phone maker Micromax is expected to launch a new Android-based flagship smartphone in the not too distant future, in the form of Micromax A240, the latest reports on the matter suggest.

No specific info on when the new mobile phone might become official has been provided as of now, but the guys over at AndroidOS claim that this could happen as soon as this week.

The Micromax A240 is said to arrive on shelves with a large 5.7-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a 720p resolution.

Furthermore, the device should pack a 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor inside, complemented by only 1GB of RAM.

Rumor has it that it will also sport 16GB of internal memory, most probably paired with a microSD memory card slot. Dual-SIM capabilities will be included inside the smartphone as well.

Furthermore, the upcoming flagship device is expected to have a 12-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with LED flash capabilities, as well as a 5MP camera on the front, for making video calls.

Micromax A240 will be powered by a 2600 mAh battery, it seems, and should also arrive on shelves with the usual set of connectivity options and sensors.

Running under Google’s Android operating system, the smartphone should also feature the customization capabilities that Micromax A210 Canvas 4 landed on shelves with.

Among these, we can count vertical panorama capabilities, video pinning to home-screen support, Flip to mute, and Smart Pause.

The 5.7-inch mobile phone might arrive on the market with a price tag of INR 18,000 attached to it, similar to the one that Canvas 4 featured at launch.

No official confirmation on the existence of the Micromax A240 has been provided until now, so we’ll take the info above with a grain of salt for the time being. Keep an eye on this space for additional details on the matter.
