The only voice worthy of this game

First-person shooters are saturating the video game market more and more, and that is why, when a shooter really has itself based on something real, or as close to reality as possible, the companies behind it want to make sure that all of the details about it are known.

Such is the case with the upcoming title Rogue Warrior, developed by Rebellion Studios and set to be published by Bethesda Softworks, which is based on the novel series written by former US Navy SEAL member Richard “Demo Dick” Marcinko.

The companies have just announced that the actor called in to provide the voice of the iconic soldier will be none other than Golden Globe winner Mickey Rourke, who dazzled movie critics around the world with his interpretation of Randy “The Ram” Robinson in The Wrestler.

“Mickey Rourke was our first choice to play Marcinko in Rogue Warrior,” Todd Vaughn, executive producer of Rogue Warrior, said. “He absolutely, one-hundred percent captures Marcinko’s raw and gritty personality.”

The actor, although making a big name for himself with titles such as Rumble Fish, Nine and a Half Weeks or Sin City, entered a cone of shadow due to substance abuse, but is now set to make a big comeback with great contracts such as this one.

Rogue Warrior is inspired by the first novel written by Marcinko, telling his own story, as he is sent on a clandestine operation in North Korea, only to uncover a conspiracy so big he must enter the USSR in order to save the world.

All in all, the title that is scheduled to appear on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC is coming together quite nicely. Looking forward to it at the end of 2009.
