Konami decided not to wait until the start of the E3 2011 conference and has just confirmed to the world that it will be release two high definition collections for its Metal Gear Solid and Zone of Enders franchises.

Konami is hopping on the recent high definition remake trend, and has confirmed at its pre-E3 conference that it will be re-releasing popular games from the Metal Gear Solid and Zone of Enders franchises.

First up, the Metal Gear Solid HD collection will appear both for the PlayStation 3 as well as on the Xbox 360.

It includes Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, both originally released for the PlayStation 2 many years ago, as well as the more recent Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which appeared for the PlayStation Portable.

Konami also confirmed that a Zone of Enders HD collection will also be released, so fans of the surprisingly popular series will once again be able to experience Zone of Enders 1 and 2.

In case you're not familiar with the franchise, Zone of Enders was a mech fighting simulator, with a distinct anime art style, impressive visuals and fast air battles that garnered an extremely loyal fan base.

This community asked Konami time and time again to develop a Zone of Enders 3, but the company declined to talk about such a project every time.

Both high definition collections will be playable in 1080p resolution, have revamped visuals and audio, as well as support for trophies and achievements.

What's more, thanks to Konami's new "Transfarring" initiative, the save games of Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on the PlayStation 3 can be transferred onto the PlayStation Portable and are fully compatible, meaning players can just continue on the portable device from where they left off on the home console.

The Metal Gear Solid HD collection is set to appear this November, while the Zone of Enders one is scheduled to be released in 2012.
